5 Reasons Why You Must Try Breakfast à la Art at Topolino's

Updated: Feb 24, 2020

So you’ve experienced character meals at the Crystal Palace, 1900 Park Faire, Cinderella’s Royal Table and others ... Why should you try the new character meal at Topolino’s Terrace at Disney’s Riviera Resort?  Here are 5 reasons why this is a must-do!

#1 - The Atmosphere

Topolino’s Terrace is located on the 10th floor at Disney’s Riviera Resort.  The resort brings to life the design and style of the Riviera of Walt’s past.  There is no detail missing.  From the lights, to the artwork influenced by the masters who found inspiration along the European Riviera, you feel as if you are adventuring with Walt and his wife Lily.

#2 - The Views

The restaurant has unique views of various parks throughout Walt Disney World.  From the balcony right outside the restaurant you can see Epcot's Spaceship Earth, the Hollywood Studios Tower of Terror and Animal Kingdom’s Expedition Everest as well as the Tree of Life.  This vantage point highlights the expansiveness of the resort in addition to its new mode of transportation, the Disney Skyliner.

#3 - The Food

Topolino’s has something for everyone on the menu. From cocktails with or without alcohol, to entrées ranging from classic breakfast selections (such as waffles, eggs, and sausage) to salmon, quiche, steak, and even plant-based selections.

There is also a kids menu with an adorably creative spin on some of the adult offerings. Little ones also receive a keepsake kids menu with activities and coloring spaces.

In addition, each table receives an artistic paint bucket of delicious pastries -

two chocolate chip muffins (which verge on cake), two classic croissants, two seasonal danishes (one maple and one apple), epi bread (a pull-apart, artisan style French bread resembling a stalk of wheat) - plus honey butter, house-made jam, and a chocolate-hazelnut spread, each in their own well on the palette.

Each meal also includes 'Riviera Sunshine,' a form of the Disney breakfast favorite POG juice (passionfruit, orange and guava) and freshly brewed coffee.

During our visit, we selected the two eggs-any style with roasted potatoes (boy o' boy were they spicy) and sausage as well as the sour cream waffle with roasted apple, raspberries, Chantilly, orange-maple syrup, and plant-based sausage for our entrées. Our server, Chris, recommended a few options and said that the sour cream waffle, while unique from the typical Disney breakfast offering, was amongst the most widely ordered at the restaurant.

#4 - The Restaurant Features

Topolino’s is an airy restaurant with lots of windows to showcase the spectacular views.  There is plenty of room between tables and a variety of seating options. The golden light fixtures are all in harmony as their twirling rods extend downward from the ceiling like rays of sunshine, giving off a warm glow throughout the restaurant.

The artistic theming continues with a paint brush spreader and classic lines throughout the table settings, mirroring the restaurants decor.

To commemorate your visit, the restaurant offers small plush versions of the characters in their Riviera outfits in addition to a themed autograph and activity book.

#5 - The Character Interaction

The term "Topolino" is Italian for the main cheese himself, Mickey Mouse, and also refers to an Italian series of illustrated tales feature Mickey and the gang.

You can even see copies of these stories in their book form at the Voyageur's Lounge, located off the lobby packed with other artifacts and memorabilia inspired by Walt Disney’s travels in the Riviera.

Back at the rooftop restaurant, the artists in residence - Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Daisy Duck - all meet with you during your meal.  Their costumes reflect their 'muses of the water's edge' and their selected mode of creative expression - painting, writing, sculpture and dance.

Each character spends ample time with your table and they dance around the restaurant to a song who's tagline is "The Happiness We Bring."

While we paid out of pocket, Topolino's Breakfast à la Art with Mickey & Friends is one table service credit on the Disney Dining Plan. With food and presentation that’s on par with Trattoria al Forno's Bon Voyage Adventure Breakfast, plus an expansive and absolutely gorgeous view, Breakfast à la Art with Mickey & Friends at Topolino’s Terrace is sure to make you raise a cheer for all to hear!
